FileControl's Visit to Microsoft Customer Lab
FileControl Partners development team visited Microsoft SQL Server Customer Lab
in Redmond, Washington in June 2006. There the team had a week long technical review
session with the SQL Server and Visual Studio teams. The Microsoft development staff
is designing various enhancements to their SQL Server product for FileControl’s
Knowledge and Litigation Management System’s search capability.
Microsoft periodically brings companies with innovative technologies and products
to their Advanced SQL Server lab to evaluate the database design and make recommendations.
Within a week’s time, FileControl development team was able to install the applications
and databases, configure them for performance testing, and use the waits-and-queues
methodology to pin down the areas in which enrichments were possible. This methodology
provides an important insight into possible performance enhancements related to
cache managing, query-plan reuse, recompilation, transaction administration, and
resource deployment.
"The enhancements designed by Microsoft and the FileControl development team will
result in a significant measurable improvement in the product’s search and review
capabilities," said Ahmad Mian, President and CEO of FileControl Partners. FileControl is now
part of the SQL Server Advisory Group, and assists Microsoft in improving their
Full Text Search capabilities.
